Sabor Latino was founded in 2007 based on a natural convergence of ideals and interests. At the beginning, Sabor Latino did not join the JIFL as it was not the main reason for the creation of the Team. Initially, the founding fathers of Sabor Latino: Pedro Nemalceff, Eladio Rojas, Hernan Miguel and Julico, thought it would be a good idea to play along with our fellow South American compatriots that had come to Indonesia to seek for a professional team contract or were already playing in the Indonesian League. By the time, Pedro had been with the Wanderers since 2002 and had brought on board to the Wanderers Eladio, Hernan and Julico in the subsequent years.

By the beginning of 2009, we had realized and found several other South American nationals that were living in Indonesia wither for work or because they had family here. And so Sabor Latino was accepted into the JIFL for the 2009 -2010 Season and the four founders left the Wanderers to realize our dream. Sabor Latino entered the JIFL under a set of values which we consider to be the foundation of our team: good friendships and good football and the respect to the League, the other teams and the game. Although the basis for the players in Sabor Latino is the Spanish language, some exceptions, on the basis of the human quality of the person, have been made.

The Spanish Speaking community in Jakarta, whether residing permanently or temporarily on the basis of overseas work assignments, is quite numerous and therefore we feel that Sabor Latino will always have a decent base and number of players to continue participating in the JIFL for the years to come. And we reiterate our commitment to provide respect and camaraderie to a remarkable Expat League.
